DESCRIPTION:The Highpointers Club is holding its annual “Konvention” at the Canaan Valley Resort from July 23-25\, 2026. This event will feature a train ride on the Cass Scenic Railroad on Thursday\, an hike from Spruce Knob to Seneca Falls on Friday\, and a watermelon/pizza feast at the Spruce Knob summit along with a banquet on Saturday. Those who have been to the highest point in all 50 states or all 48 Continental US states will be recognized at the banquet. Cost is $100 plus the online processing fee to register online\, or $105 plus postage to register by mail. Cass Scenic Railroad is extra. All are welcome to register and attend. During the day\, guest speakers from West Virginia University\, Marshall University\, Shawnee State University\, NRAO (National Radio Astronomy Observatory) at Greenbank\, WV and many amateur astronomers give presentations to guests from beginner to advanced. In the evening\, they host star parties at the Harold Walters Nature Center under some of the darkest skies in West Virginia. The event finishes Saturday evening with raffle prize drawings.
