We are planning on a festival-like atmosphere for Packet Pick Up and Pre Race on Saturday with live music\, vendors\, food\, and more! In addition to our festivities\, we encourage everyone to check out the endless outdoor recreation opportunities\, as well as our funky little mountain towns of Davis\, and Thomas.

DESCRIPTION:For 37 years\, the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society along with Blackwater Falls State Park has offered Astronomy Weekend. The event this year will be September 18 – 19\, 2026. During the day\, guest speakers from West Virginia University\, Marshall University\, Shawnee State University\, NRAO (National Radio Astronomy Observatory) at Greenbank\, WV and many amateur astronomers give presentations to guests from beginner to advanced. In the evening\, they host star parties at the Harold Walters Nature Center under some of the darkest skies in West Virginia. The event finishes Saturday evening with raffle prize drawings.
