Event Lineup for Mid-February and March 2023

A personal favorite in the winter events world is Blackwater Falls State Park’s Cardboard and Duct Tape Sled Race on February 25th.  This annual event takes place on the east coast longest sled run.   Participants build and decorate their custom sleds to yearly themes. This year’s theme is “The 70’s”.

Big things are coming from the 63rd annual West Virginia Governors Cup Ski Race in 2023. The event returns to Timberline Mountain March 11th and 12th for two days of slalom and giant slalom racing, which is open to snowboarders and tele-mark skiing on Saturday. Huge prizes are on the line this year including skis and snowboards being given out to all three disciplines, for the first time ever.

Are you an aspiring woman wanting to be queen of the Governor’s Cup one day? But need to sharpen your skiing skills for 2024. On March 25 and 26th a Women’s Ski Clinic taught by women for women comes to Canaan Valley Resort.

The Sunrise Ski Scramble-Cross County Race returns to Canaan Valley Resort March 4th for this uphill and downhill ski race. A super fun course is set to climb to the top of Cabin Mountain and back down. The event begins early for a freshly groomed surface and before Canaan opens for the day.
