Fall Color Has Arrived

Fall color is now in play!  For the next three weeks Tucker County will be going through nature’s annual transformation from thriving summer to peak fall colors and finally our dormant winter.  Thank goodness she likes to go out with a colorful bang.

For 2023 Mother Nature is delivering earlier than usual.  After a few nights of frost and cool days, colors have substantially popped out on our maple trees, as burnt ferns glow along the fringes.

If you do not already have a trip booked and are flexible with your time, you are in luck!  This weekend we welcome October 1st and the first true full week of leaf peeping in Tucker County.  The beauty will remain as autumn transitions for another couple of weeks.

The onset of perfect fall color could not have come at a better time.  September 29th to October 1st Timberline Mountain opens their scenic chairlift and lodge for their annual Artober-fest with Art Spring.

Dolly Sods is hugely popular during fall and this weekend will be no different.   Expect serious crowds and traffic along Forest Road 19 and 75. The effort and patience will be well worth it.  And remember, LEAVE NO TRACE!  Yes, even when needing to use the “bathroom”.  Because there are no bathrooms and being prepared is half the battle.

To get the most out of our country roads and autumn beauty jump in your car and participate in the 2023 Take in Tucker Scavenger Hunt across Tucker County.  Not only will you discover fantastic new places, but upon turning in the Take in Tucker Passport you are automatically entered in to will a $250.00 Visa gift card.
