Welcome To Parsons, West Virginia
Tucked away off the mountain with flowing rivers at its side, Parsons is a town where unbound natural beauty meets rich history.
The town of Parsons, named for the prominent landowner, Ward Parsons, who built the town in the late 1880s, boomed after the railroad’s arrival in 1888. He, along with others, successfully relocated the count seat from St. George to its current location. Today, Parsons thrives as a top outdoor recreation spot.
Parsons is home to the acclaimed bluegrass music festival, Pickin’ in Parsons. Save the date for this year’s festival on July 29 through August 2, 2025. Over five days, enjoy over 20 bluegrass bands on the banks of the Shavers Fork River — it’s the perfect way to end your summer! Watch the video below to learn more about this annual festival.
