Scenic Chairlift Rides: Canaan Valley Ski Resort

Want to take in some amazing views? Go for a scenic chairlift ride at Canaan Valley Resort. The views of the valley, surrounding mountains and lush foliage are breathtaking, especially from an elevation of 4,280 feet. The bird’s eye views from the chairlift make the already-stunning sights truly over-the-top beautiful. Ride the lift back down or hike the two miles to base-camp. Either way, you’ll be immersed in some of the most explosive fall colors the east has to offer.

Once to the top of Canaan Valley several options to spread out and adventure await. Bald Knob trail head is within sight of where the chairlift reaches it’s terminus. Towering Red Spruce that use to dominate entire mountainsides loom overhead as moss covered grounds welcomes the eager explorer.

Hike a mile on Bald Knob trail north for uninterrupted views at 4,000 feet. Weiss Knob, Canaan Valley, and sunsets are hard to beat from this location. Also located at the top of Canaan Valley Ski Resort is a para-glide launch pad facing south for incredible views of the Red Creek Valley and Mount Porte Crayon. Looking for the ultimate mountain view wedding? Canaan Resort also offers wedding accommodations atop their mountain.
